According to tuttomercatowebJavier Mascherano is poised to submit a formal transfer request to Liverpool. The website insists that the 26-year-old will ask to leave the club amidst interest from his former coach Rafael Benitez, who is now at Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Over the past few weeks, the Argentina international's links with the Nerazzurri have continued to increase in the press and on Thursday the player's agent dropped a hint he could be on his way to the San Siro.
Mascherano joined Liverpool in 2007 and has made over 130 appearances for the club.
