Javier Mascherano isn't willing to rush into a new Liverpool contract. Mascherano, who has two years to run on his current contract, insists he is happy at Anfield and will hold talks over a new deal next week.
"I do not know what the situation is," he said. "They have approached us to discuss a new contract and my agent will have a meeting in the next few days with representatives of the club.
"The reality is that I am very happy at Liverpool and that I want to know what the club's plans are and we will see if, at this point, I can renew my contract.
"It is not that I feel more settled now than I did in the summer. I have always felt at home at Liverpool and everyone at the club has treated me very well. There is nothing more to say than that at this stage."
