Mascherano defends Barcelona pal Messi after drawing another blank

Javier Mascherano has defended Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi after he drew another blank last night.

Messi and Barca struggled to a 1-0 win over Granada, with Xavi hitting the winner.

"Leo was unlucky," insisted Mascherano. "He did have chances.

"The important thing is the team. Winning and also stopping the opposition from scoring."
