Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is hoping he can bring Arsenal winger Ryo Miyaichi back to the Latics once he has recovered from injury, reports ClickLancashire. Miyaichi's loan spell at the DW Stadium has been hampered by injury and he is unlikely to play again this season after suffering a serious ankle problem in their recent FA Cup win at Everton.

The Japanese starlet is back with parent club Arsenal but Martinez has not been deterred by the player's injury problems and is keen to get him back at Wigan for another spell.

"We will have to speak with Arsenal and we need to assess and make sure they are happy with the progression of the player," Martinez said of the situation.

"Ryo is a footballer that we really admire and has an incredible future in front of him so if we could work with him for a longer period we would be very happy to do that."
