Martinez says Wigan future will be known next week

Roberto Martinez says he and Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan will sit down to discuss his future as manager next week.

The Spaniard led the Latics to FA Cup glory this season but failed to keep them in the Premier League and has been linked with a possible move to Everton following the departure of David Moyes to Manchester United.

Following the end of the league campaign, Martinez says he will take a week's break before talking his DW Stadium prospects over with Whelan.

"Over the next week we'll sit down with the chairman and we'll decide," he told Sky Sports News. "But it's just a time to be proud of the achievement of the last eight years at this level, making sure we can bounce back.

"But the football club financially and in terms of history, we're ready to break even more ground, playing in the Europa League in the group stages, and carry on making that belief and pride of Wigan very strong."

He added regarding the date of the meeting: "Well it will be a week on Monday, a week today."
