Martinez plays down Chelsea, Arsenal interest in Everton's Stones

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has attempted to pour cold water over claims that Chelsea and Arsenal are showing significant interest in John Stones.

Reports have suggested that both the Blues and Gunners are keen on the 19-year old defender who is emerging as a quality youngster under Martinez at Goodison Park.

Stones, who arrived on Merseyside from Barnsley in January 2013, has made 17 Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season and is going nowhere anytime soon according to the boss.

"No, I haven't heard about (that)," Martinez said of the rumours. "We won't send players on loan either.

"It's a good sign. It's not bad for a young man that is just starting his career.

"Stones has been phenomenal [this season]."
