Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez insists goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has a future at the DW.

Kirkland has just signed for Doncaster Rovers on-loan.

"It is a great opportunity for Chris," said Martinez.

"He has been working really well over the last few weeks and this is a chance for him to enjoy his football and play games.

"Chris is a pristine professional. An England player. He is special. Doncaster will be a really good opportunity for him to get sharp, come back and help the team to achieve its aims."
