Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists his squad only needs minor surgery this summer.

Martinez believes he will not have to make wholesale changes despite the Blues going from top-four chasers last season to battling it out in the bottom half of the table this term.

He said: "We do not necessarily need change.

"If you have an older, experienced player who is not reaching his level then you need a change.

"If you are a young player who has not reached his level then you will benefit from the experience.

"Every player is an individual and we have to make sure we are a stronger team next season than we are now. That's what you have to do in every window.

"Yes, 100 per cent we will be stronger next season without change because we have a lot of young players who have experimented with important roles this season and will be better for it next season."
