Martinez ignores transfer window for Wigan's Premiership survival

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is concentrating on lifting the Latics out of the relegation mire and whilst he has been linked with other players, and his own squad with moves away, the Spaniard has eyes only for Premiership survival. With games against Arsenal and Aston Villa on the horizon, Martinez is concentrating on points rather than purchases.

"We are focussing on the games in front of us," he said.

"We have a game with Arsenal and a game with Villa and they need our full concentration.

"We're not going to be distracted by people's futures or by speculation.

"We need to concentrate on the team. The transfer window is great for the media and people on the outside, but we need to keep our focus."

The DW Stadium club remain in trouble at the wrong end of the table despite their recent run of reasonable form.

He added: "We have lost one in seven and been very consistent, and when you play well you need to get the three points.

"This campaign we haven't been able to cash our good performances in for points."
