Everton manager Roberto Martinez is hopeful that current chairman Bill Kenwright remains involved with the club even if new owners arrive.
Everton are believed to be in talks over a potential £200million takeover by a consortium led by American investors John Jay Moores and Charles Noell, and if the proposed move comes into fruition, long-time chairman Kenwright will be relinquishing his majority stake at the club.
A lifelong Everton supporter, Kenwright took control of Everton back in 1999 and has done a fantastic job at Goodison Park and Martinez has had his say regarding the great man's impending departure and is hopeful that the 70-year-old remains involved with Everton in some form even if the new owners come in.
Martinez said: "We don't know what's going to happen. But I've always said what the chairman is for Everton and I wouldn't want Bill Kenwright to lose his association with Everton, ever.
"I think it would be a loss if we do that. Whatever the investment or whatever the situation is in the future, in 10 or 15 years I would love to see Everton benefit from our chairman for the rest of his life."
