Everton boss Roberto Martinez is expected to name Graeme Jones as his No2 in the coming days.
The Mirror says Martinez wants to tie up a deal with Wigan for Jones this week.
Martinez is keen for compensation to be sorted for his former assistant, but Dave Whelan wants a pay-off as he is on a three-year contract.
Martinez also plans to take Kevin Reeves for a 'general manager' role - he works at Latics without a deal and is keen to join him.
Reeves is the man behind many of Martinez's signings and would take on that position on Merseyside.
