Roberto Martinez believes Ross Barkley will be fully prepared for this summer's World Cup if he wins a call-up to the England squad.
The 20-year old midfielder has enjoyed a stellar Premier League campaign for the Toffees, culminating in a wonderful opening goal in Saturday's eventual 3-2 loss to Manchester City.
With the 2014 World Cup just over a month away, Martinez is of the belief that Barkley is a player that England can surely not overlook such are the capabilities he possesses.
"If Ross is called up, then he will be ready," said Martinez.
"He can offer something unique. I don't think there's anybody else in the England squad who has his qualities.
"The character of Ross is he is ready to embrace anything that comes his way, nothing will faze him. But we have a responsibility to look after him. If he doesn't go, we will give him time to regenerate in the summer.
"I respect so much Roy Hodgson's vision. Whatever he decides will be the right thing."
Martinez added: "He is a phenomenal talent and is the best English talent I have seen and worked with.
"He is going to be terrific news for Everton and for English football."
