Olympique Marseille want to take Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz on a season-long loan.
The News of the World says Santa Cruz cost a staggering £17.5million just 12 months ago but boss Roberto Mancini is now desperate to sell him.
The City manager is looking to drastically reduce the size of his squad and made a start by selling defender Javier Garrido to Lazio this week.
Santa Cruz, 28, scored just three goals in 19 appearances last season and is now valued at around £7m.
Marseille have made contact with City, who have made it clear that they want Santa Cruz off the wage bill permanently.
