Marseille striker Cisse insists priority is Sunderland deal

Marseille striker Djibril Cisse has assured Sunderland fans he wants a permanent deal.

"Maybe it has been difficult for me," he told the Daily Mail. "It is not nice to worry about your future and to think about the uncertainty, and perhaps I am distracted but I have to deal with it. I want my future to be here but I'm still waiting to sign. I am waiting, I am patient.

"People were surprised when I left one of the best clubs in France and a team in the Champions League to join Sunderland, who were involved in a relegation fight last season. But I was not satisfied in Marseille. I want to score goals and you can't do that from the bench.

"That's me. I want to play and score goals and when I don't I'm not happy. I feel I'm not doing my job properly. People get mixed up sometimes. They see my tattoos, my cars, my dress sense and they think my first love is fashion. But football is my No 1. I like clothes and flashy things, but I know why I have them: football.

"Not many players have come back from two broken legs. That is why I am really proud. I try not to think about it but I am lucky to still be walking because 45 minutes more I could have lost my foot. I am just happy to be here."
