Olympique Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier accepts Taye Taiwo will leave in the summer.
The Nigeria fullback, who has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, comes off contract in June.
Dassier lamented: "We tried to keep him but he wanted to go elsewhere, like Niang last year. We made good proposals to Taye but he refused.
"We do not know where he will go - whether it is to the English league, Italian or Spanish."
