Marseille at fault for Gomis' collapsed Newcastle move say Lyon

Olympique Lyon have lodged a complaint with league chiefs over the behaviour of rivals Marseille regarding Bafetimbi Gomis.

Lyon have been negotiating with Newcastle United about a transfer fee for the striker, believed to be around £8million, but there have been complications regarding the deal because of behind-the-scene interferences from Marseille.

A Lyon statement read: "Mr Aulas (Lyon president) says that during negotiations between the representatives of Bafetimbi Gomis and Newcastle, Olympique de Marseille intervened to make contact with the player and his agents without warning Lyon.

"As a result, if the negotiations with Newcastle should collapse, it would be Marseille's fault."
