Newcastle United are facing competition from Marseille for Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella.
La Provence reports the Velodrome outfit have table an "official bid" for his services.
Marseille are thought to have placed an 8million bid for Cabella but the bid has been dismissed by Montpellier who want a fee closer to £12million.
Newcastle are understood to have failed with an opening bid of £6 million for the playmaker.
