The mother of Manchester City signing Marlos Moreno admits she had never heard of her son's new club.

Moreno was snapped up from Colombian outfit Atletico Nacional this summer for £4.75m.

However, the 20-year-old was immediately loaned out and is currently strutting his stuff in La Liga at Deportivo La Coruna.

Moreno told La Voz de Galicia: “In my family, they don't know about football.

"My mum didn't know who Manchester City were.

"I had to explain to her the importance of this, and the only thing she wanted was for me to be happy playing football and let me know she was proud of me.

“My brothers were the same. They started taking an interest in football when they saw I was playing and I brought them to the stadiums."
