Markovic stuck at Liverpool as Anderlecht move collapses

Lazar Markovic remains a Liverpool player with the European market shut.

The Liverpool Echo says Markovic's proposed £2.9million from Liverpool to Anderlecht has collapsed.

The Serbian winger flew to Belgium for talks on Friday after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee.

However, with the Reds on the brink of finally off-loading Markovic on a permanent basis he failed to agree personal terms and the deal was called off shortly before the deadline.

Anderlecht had beaten off competition from Greek club PAOK on Friday to agree a fee of 3.25million Euros (£2.9million). Liverpool had also negotiated a 50% sell-on clause.

Markovic, who is into the final year of his contract, spent the second half of last season on loan at Anderlecht - scoring one goal in eight appearances.
