Mariners sign youth internationals

The Central Coast Mariners have had two players commit to them for the next few seasons, boosting the club's future. 24-year old defender Pedj Bojic has signed for two seasons whilst 23-year old goalkeeper Danny Vukovic has signed a three-year deal with the Mariners. Both players have represented Australia at underage level with Bojic being a part of the 2001 U17 World Cup squad where he played all four matches Australia competed in and also spent four years in England with Northampton Town from 2004 until 2007. Vukovic has been a part of both the U20 and U23 squads and played in the 2005 U20 World Cup in the Netherlands. He was also stand-by goalkeeper for the Socceroos in their 2007 Asian Cup campaign. Mariners Chief Executive Lyall Gorman was pleased to add both Bojic and Vukovic to an ever-expanding list of players who are committing to the Central Coast, noting that the club is in a strong position to build on last season's second placing. "We've entered unchartered territory in terms of the competition for players' signatures following the inclusion of two teams from the next Hyundai A-League season onwards and with that in mind, we're delighted to have secured two of our most promising talents for beyond the current season," he said. "Pedj (Bojic) has quite simply exploded onto the Hyundai A-League scene after joining us from the NSW Premier League and we're aware that his progress had caught the attention of some of our rivals and to that end, we're delighted that Pedj has accepted a deserved chance to further his career at the Mariners where he has settled in fantastically. "Danny (Vukovic) has enjoyed a colourful career at the Mariners and we have been incredibly impressed with the growth in stature and character on and off the field of what we believe to be the best goalkeeper in the Hyundai A-League and one of Australia's most outstanding international prospects." Other Mariners to recently commit to the club include defender Nigel Boogaard, creative playmaker Adrian Caceres, injured duo Ahmad Elrich and Dean Heffernan, goal scoring midfielder John Hutchinson, Socceroos squad member Mile Jedinak, youngster Bradley Porter and strikers Dylan Macallister and Matt Simon. This gives the Gosford-based club every chance of stamping their authority on both the Hyundai A-League and Asian Champions League in years to come.
