Mariners Petrovski confident of winning lucrative contract

Central Coast striker Sasho Petrovski is confident he will be offered an attractive contract after turning down a deal with the Mariners. The 33-year old knocked back the Mariners offer due to the amount of money not meeting his requirements and although out of contract in June, he is no hurry to secure a home.

"I believe clubs would be crazy not to be sniffing around me with my record over the years and the fact I'm coming off contract I think every A-League side would want me," Petrovski said.

"But let's wait and see, I'm not rushing into anything. I'm keen to see what offers come my way. If I accepted the first one that came along I might go on to regret it later.

"Maybe a Japanese team will come in, who knows," he added. "I'm really in no hurry. The Mariners put an offer to me which I wasn't happy with and now we're holding off.

"They know I don't want to negotiate during the season because it's a bit of a distraction and I don't want to be distracted.

"I started the season on fire but I've dipped a bit in the goalscoring department, which has a lot to do with the formation being changed and me playing out wide and having to concentrate on doing more defensive work.

"But that's not a problem. Good players have to adjust and that's what I've done. I feel my form is okay but I want to contribute more in the goals department."
