Marco Silva wants fans to start loving Everton again

New Everton boss Marco Silva wants the fans to start loving the team again.

Fans protested openly and booed the team constantly at the end of the season as they made clear to owner Farhad Moshiri they wanted a better style of football.

And Silva promised there would be something different – and a real bond with the supporters, when he said: “We want to build a great connection between the squad and the fans.

“I'm sure that with our attitude and demands of commitment then our style of play will see that, I believe.

“I know what our fans expect - they expect results but not only results. I want our fans to be proud when they see our team on the pitch.

“I want them to feel that we are committed, that we are working hard and enjoying our football because that is important as well."

New Director of Football Marcel Brands offered final confirmation of the new boss after owner Moshiri had pursued him since Ronald Koeman was sacked back in October.

The former Watford boss was first choice and Sam Allardyce only ever seen as an interim, and Brands said: “He is a manager who wants to play attractive, attacking football and also wants to work in the structure we have at Everton."
