Marco Fassone admits his axing by Inter Milan was unexpected.

The former director was shown the door on Friday.

“I did not expect it," confessed Fassone.

Asked whether this had to do with the transfer campaign and pressures of Financial Fair Play, his response was intriguing.

“The market left us €18m in the red, but it was all agreed with President Erick Thohir."
