Federico Marchetti is delighted with his move to Lazio.

The former Cagliari goalkeeper moved to Lazio last week.

"This is a great moment for me," he stated to Lazio Style Radio after completing his move from Cagliari in a €5.2m deal.

"We have a great squad and President Claudio Lotito is bringing some important players in. I think we can achieve something satisfying."

He added: "It's over 370 days since I last played.

"It was hard at the start, but then I trained as myself on a weekly basis.

"All I said was that I would have liked to have played, for professional reasons, in the Champions League with Sampdoria.

"That cost me a lot. But I do want to thank the Cagliari fans who demonstrated their support for me."
