ABC says the youngster has angered Real coaching staff by deciding to take a break after the U20 World Championships rather than join Bernd Schuster's senior squad in Austria. Spain U20 internationals Adrian, Esteban Granero and Antonio Bueno are all working with Schuster and actually were in Canada for longer than Marcelo and his Brazil teammates.
Marcelo failed to win over former coach Fabio Capello last season and with Real now pursuing Feyenoord's Royston Drenthe, the ex-Fluminense starlet's days could be numbered.
