Marcelo was delighted to prove Real Madrid's matchwinner for victory over Valencia.

The Brazilian struck late on for the 2-1 win.

He remarked afterwards, “I'm pleased because we've managed to get three points against very tough opposition. We put our heart and soul into it and showed what we're made of. With all of us running and battling together, we were able to take all three points.

"Real Madrid is a great club and with our fans driving us on it's difficult to get the better of us here. The most important thing is that we remain right in the hunt and we'll be fighting until the end. If we want to secure the LaLiga title we're going to have to win all of our remaining games. Our plan is to just take things one game at a time, be patient and work really hard."
