Marc Muniesa saw the transfer deadline pass still a Stoke City player.

The Sentinel says Muniesa suffered a frustrating deadline day to remain at Stoke City, despite interest from at home and abroad in the unsettled defender.

Stoke, it appears, were willing to sell the 24 year-old Spaniard ahead of last night's 11pm deadline, but couldn't line up a replacement in time after tracking another Spanish player.

Muniesa was attracting interest from both a Premier League rival and from back home in Spain after his frustration at a lack of game time at Stoke had become widely publicised.
