Chelsea have been encouraged in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero. New Blues chief executive Ron Gourlay wants to make the Argentina international his first major signing since his appointment.
Argentina coach Diego Maradona believes Sergio Aguero should join Chelsea if Atletico Madrid can't build a squad to challenge for major trophies, says the Mirror.
Maradona, who is also Aguero's father-in-law, feels the striker needs to leave the Spanish club for the good of his career.
He said: "To make the best of Aguero's qualities they [Atletico] must create a team worthy of him and sign some players. Otherwise, they must let him go and not harm his development as a player."
