Argentina coach Diego Maradona has jumped to the defence of Ezequiel Lavezzi in his row with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
Lavezzi was called up for Argentina's two World Cup qualifiers last week, but didn't play and lost his passport in the process.
He risked missing Walter Mazzarri's first game in charge of Napoli and drew stinging criticism from De Laurentiis.
"He didn't play in Uruguay, but for me it's as if he did. I like his way of being in the group, his way of participating in the emotions of the Seleccion even though he was off the pitch," Maradona told Il Mattino.
"These are the kind of players I like. These are the team players that make a national team and even a club very lucky. Napoli should keep him close, also in light of his performance against Bologna."
