Diego Maradona has been sacked by UAE club Al Wasl.
The Argentine great has been relieved of his duties at the Zabeel Stadium after taking over in May 2011 due to a poor debut season in charge which saw the club finish eighth in the 12-team UAE Pro-League.
"Following a meeting by the Board of Directors of Al Wasl Football Company on Tuesday evening to evaluate the technical staff of the Al Wasl football team under the leadership of Diego Maradona and after thorough evaluation of the coach and his staff it, has been decided to terminate the services of Diego Maradona and his technical staff," a club spokesman told Sport 360.
