Diego Maradona wants Carlos Tevez to quit Manchester City and return home to Boca Juniors.
Maradona has put his name to a petition to bring Tevez home.
Boca supporters aim to gain 100,000 signatures in the belief they can influence Tevez after his recent transfer request came amid claims he wanted to go home to be closer to his two daughters.
The petition is accompanied by campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit.
A spokesperson said: "We know that it will be very difficult to achieve, but his return would be beautiful and very emotional."
