Diego Maradona has been denied entry to the USA because of friendships with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.
The Argentine great was deprived of entering the States by the US Embassy in Dubai as he planned a family trip to Disney World in Florida.
A source close to the ex-Napoli and Barcelona star said his apparent relationships with the Cuban revolutionary and former Venezuelan president persuaded the US Embassy not to rubber stamp his entry visa.
"His relationship with the US has never been good," the source told The Sun.
"His friendships with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and other enemies of the US stopped him being given permission before.
"It was a bit of a kick in the teeth for Diego. The family were really excited about the holiday."
Maradona was set to take his four-year old grandson Benjamin, who is the son of Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, to Florida.
