Diego Maradona abandoned plans to fly to England this weekend.
Maradona is due to be confirmed as the new head coach of Argentina on Tuesday and had planned to meet with national team players Carlos Tevez, of Manchester United, and Liverpool's Javier Mascherano.
However, the 48-year-old former Napoli and Barcelona forward will stay in Argentina to formulate his squad for the upcoming friendly against Scotland.
Maradona is expected to be present when his appointment is confirmed by the Argentinian Football Association, and is likely to hold his first press conference.
On Tuesday he is also due to announce his squad for the Hampden clash which takes place on November 19.
"I want to be there for the announcement," Maradona said.
