Manchester City fullback Pablo Zabaleta has incurred the wrath of Argentina boss Diego Maradona.

Maradona appears to be cracking under the pressure of trying to guide his country to the World Cup, revealing he could resign after matches against Peru and Uruguay in the next week.

And after losing Zabaleta to the hamstring injury he suffered at Villa Park, a furious Maradona insisted his FA should have stopped the defender and Carlos Tevez taking part.

"Someone should have travelled to England to bring them back," said Maradona. "Argentina have two massive games and Manchester City have 100 more.

"Once again these things have got away from us. It upsets me a lot that we can't rely on Zabaleta playing."
