Diego Maradona has given his thumbs up to Real Madrid's appointment of Bernd Schuster as coach.

"I tried to bring him to Boca Juniors," revealed Maradona. "I spoke with him and came close to convincing him, but he's a man of his word and was still under contract with Getafe.

"You could see he was already a great strategist and with Real he will become a great coach."
