The situation is liable to get worse it warns with attendance rises not enough to cover increases in running costs.

"The relative fortunes of those at the very top and those at the foot of the league are getting further and further apart," said Gerald Krasner, who has worked as a joint administrator of both AFC Bournemouth and Port Vale.
