Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric says Avram Grant can bring success to Chelsea.

Mandaric was instrumental in bringing Grant to Portsmouth during his time at Fratton Park and claims he never doubted the Israeli possessed the qualities to make a success of his promotion at Chelsea.

"Avram's a good man," said the Leicester chairman. "He's very technical and I'm not surprised what he has done because I said when Chelsea got him that he would surprise a lot of people. He's a quiet guy, he's not very vocal but he's a very qualified man. Let's be honest, whoever would step into Jose's shoes would probably be criticised for one reason or another so you kind of expected that. But you have got to give the man credit, he has done well there.

"People were looking for a certain type, a profile and Avram didn't enjoy that," he said. "But I think high-profile is your team, not your manager or your chairman and Chelsea's team carries everything. That's what is taking place at Chelsea right now."
