Mancini wants to be remembered as manager who brought trophies to Man City

After 35 years Manchester City are still waiting for another trophy and current boss Roberto Mancini, with his expensively assembled squad, wants to be that man who ends the silverware drought. The Italian feels his team has never been better placed to win some trophies.

"I would like people to look back on my time here and say I was a good manager, a manager that ended a long wait for silverware - and much more," Mancini told City's official magazine, Manc.

"Nobody knows what the future holds. But the feeling around the club is very good.

"We have improved as a team over the past few months and there is a momentum building up.

"After so many years, the fans deserve success. I believe they will have something to celebrate before too long."

Looking back, Mancini does not feel City were ready to make the same impact - but has more confidence this season.

"A year ago, we weren't ready," he said.

"But I feel we are now. If we qualify for the Champions League this season we will do well because we are stronger.

"We hope to win the Europa League as proof of how far we have come.

"We may lose one or two games along the way but if we keep going in the direction we are, we should all be able to celebrate together. Hopefully at the end of the season."
