Owen Hargreaves is in line to make his first Manchester City appearance this week as manager Roberto Mancini gets set to make some changes to his line-up.
The former Manchester United midfielder could be handed a City debut when the Eastlands club take on Birmingham City in the Carling Cup on Wednesday according to Mancini.
"I need to speak with Owen and on Tuesday we will decide if he will play, but he probably will," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"He has been in full training but he is not 100 per cent. He could play maybe 30 to 45 minutes."
And Mancini added that he will be forced to make changes as he has to give some first team players a rest as well as possibly bringing Kolo Toure in for his first game in six months.
"I will change the team absolutely because I need five or six players resting," he added.
"We want to keep going in the competition but we also need to change players.
"We also need to recover Kolo (Toure) and some of the other players."
