“At the start it was a shock,” he confessed to Max magazine. “Perhaps because of the tension I had accumulated, or the anger and disappointment of the firing, I just could not accept the idea of suddenly being out of my world after a lifetime in football.
“Then, a little bit at a time, I got over it. I can see that every now and then it is healthy to relax and every day that goes by I feel better.”
His view of replacement Jose Mourinho is that the hard work has already been done and success is inevitable.
“I won’t talk about Inter, I will only say one word: Scudetto. This was already the strongest team for the last two years, so they will certainly win again this season.”
