Mancini: I helped change dynamic of Man City v Man Utd clashes

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed that he helped changed the dynamic of the Manchester derby.

Mancini spent four years as manager of City and led the club to FA Cup glory as well as a first Premier League title win in more than 40 years in 2012.

One of the most memorable moments during Mancini's tenure as manager of City was to guide his side to a stunning 6-1 victory over rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, which was perhaps the point where the power shift in Manchester began from the red half to the blue.

Now, the current Inter Milan boss has gone on to state that his contribution as City boss helped changed the dynamic of the rivalry between the two clubs.

"I helped to change the dynamics of the Manchester derby and it was very difficult to do that," he told Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

"United were a top club for many years and to achieve the status of equality was very tough. We bought a lot of good players who worked very hard and gave the club their first title win in a long time. I like to take up difficult challenges and work hard towards achieving my goals."
