Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini fears being left behind in the final days of the summer market.
The Etihad chief is also convinced that Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham will all be involved in a transfer frenzy before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
Mancini believes Chelsea will be desperate to replace Didier Drogba in attack, Arsenal need to offset the loss of Van Persie and Spurs will need to find a fresh playmaker following Luka Modric's departure for Real Madrid.
"Chelsea have spent money already this summer and I believe they will buy other players before the window closes. Arsenal will have money to spend after selling Van Persie to United and Liverpool will also be in the hunt with a change of manager.
"I think that Liverpool and Tottenham will be a lot stronger this season and that's why it won't just be a straight fight between ourselves and United, there will be four or five other teams involved, too."
