Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini admits he needs Adam Johnson to stay fit.

Former Middlesbrough winger Johnson looks set to retain his place for the clash with Liverpool after a glowing report from Mancini.

The Italian said: "He is an important player for the team.

"When he was injured it was difficult for us."
