Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that he tried hard to land the signature of Edinson Cavani during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
The Napoli striker remains a target of English clubs including Chelsea and City but Mancini admits he certainly was a transfer target during his Eastlands rein.
"When I was at City I often spoke about Cavani with the management. I often talked with the board about Edinson because he interested us a lot," he said.
"Cavani was somebody who could have been targeted. I don't know whether he is of interest in the club's new technical project."
