Managerless Oldham in pursuit of Man Utd legend Scholes

League One club Oldham Athletic are believed to be considering making a move for Paul Scholes according to reports.

The Latics are set to lose manager Lee Johnson to division rivals Barnsley and it is believed that they are interested in having Manchester United great Scholes replace him in the hotseat.

40-year old Scholes is a boyhood Oldham fan and has often been spotted at Boundary Park while his friendship with club chairman Simon Corney has added fuel to the fire that he could be installed in an official capacity.

However, the former star midfielder has TV punditry and newspaper column obligations to fulfill which may jeopardise any potential move.

Oldham, though, are undoubtedly keen according to a club source who told the Daily Mail: "It's certainly something that would capture the imagination and it is something that is being considered."
