Managerless Inverness warned off St Johnstone boss

Inverness have been warned off making an approach for St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes. St Johnstone chief Geoff Brown insists the 37 year old will not be allowed to leave his current post.

"Derek is doing a great job here and it's not yet completed," he told the Daily Record.

"If I was to be approached by Inverness or any other team I'd be fending them off."

Saints did allow former boss Owen Coyle to join Burnley back in 2007.

"That was completely different. Owen left for a club in England which was in a different league from us financially," he added.

"In my opinion, Inverness will be looking for someone to keep them in the SPL and that means an experienced man for a quick fix.

"It is a different job entirely from the long-term plan Derek has for this club. And I'm not sure if Inverness would have a greater attraction than St Johnstone."
