Carlos Tevez could be in line for his Manchester United debut against Reading on Sunday.
The Premier League is satisfied that West Ham have been paid a £2m settlement agreed last week, meaning the player has been released from his contract and his registration made available. United submitted their proposed two-year loan deal for Tevez and the League are now scrutinising the contract.
Given that a similar deal took Javier Mascherano to Liverpool last season, United should receive clearance before Sunday but, having not played since the Copa America final on July 16, Tevez's fitness remains a concern.
