Man Utd's Rooney: Ronaldo can handle roughhouse treatment

Wayne Rooney has no concerns over Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and his relationship with away crowds.

Ronaldo again came in for some rough treatment from Villarreal, including a reckless knee-high foul from Joan Capdevilla that warranted the red card it received.

That incident heightened the abuse the Portugal winger received from the El Madrigal crowd, but Rooney is backing his team-mate to continue to let his feet do the talking.

"He's a high-profile player and wherever he goes he is always going to get this kind of treatment," Rooney added. "But he's big enough to deal with it."
