Man Utd's Rooney has no weekend baby plans

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has no plans to fly back from Ukraine to attend the birth of his first child.

Rooney's wife Coleen is not due for another fortnight, so the Manchester United star set aside any concerns that his wife may go into labour early to board the flight taking England to Dnepropetrovsk for Saturday's World Cup qualifier.

The 23-year-old had suggested he would remain at home if the delivery was imminent.

However, now he has made the journey, it seems he can only cross his fingers and hope.

"If something happened I am sure I will try and work something out but I have no plans at the minute," he said. "Once we get to Friday, if I am over in Ukraine and the baby has already been born, there is no point going back."

With England due to leave immediately after Saturday's match, Rooney will only be out of the country for just over 48 hours.

According to Coleen's due dates, any disruption to Rooney's professional schedule is likely to come when United visit CSKA Moscow on Champions League duty in a fortnight's time.
