Man Utd's Ronaldo survives crazy media conference

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo managed to get through an amazing media conference today. Ronaldo insists he does not dream about being feted as the world's best player or picking up the Ballon D'or as Europe's top performer, both of which he achieved last season.

"Some players on my team played fantastic this season and I deserve to win (the Ballon D'or)," said Ronaldo.

"But I don't care about the Ballon D'or. What I want more is to win the Champions League. That's it."

It was Ronaldo's straightforward message at a chaotic, at times surreal, press conference interrupted by mobile ring tones, flash bulbs, indecipherable questions and a Spanish television presenter who stepped forward to present Ronaldo with a t-shirt and urged him to vote in the European elections.

'You are very important for me,' proclaimed the writing on the presenter's shirt and the thought occurred that it was a sentiment with which Sir Alex Ferguson, sitting six feet away from his Portuguese winger, might have concurred.

Ronaldo admitted the goldfish bowl in which he lives is not a burden, just a way of life.

"Yes, it's normal that people speak about me but I am 100% focused on this game," he said. "I try to help my team 100%, score a goal and win the game. That's it."
